The petition
In Egypt, thousands of small birds, exhausted after a long migration journey, are caught in nets cast at sea, 700 km wide!
The wing and tail feathers are then cut away so that they cannot fly. They are then sold alive in miserable conditions or killed for consumption.
This is often a protected species here in Europe, and the actions of a single country like Egypt can negate the efforts of other countries in terms of protection.
This bird-catching is the tradition in Egypt! We must fight these cruel and useless traditions that are decimating the populations of our small birds which eat insects and that are so beautiful to watch in their natural habitat, such as the hoopoe.
