La pétition
Dear French people,
Those of you who signed the petition "Replay the final match of Euro 2016" undersigned to the following (as it appears in its page):
"Durant le match de la finale de l'euro 2016, opposant la France au Portugal, l'arbitre a commis une erreur qui a donné la victoire au Portugal. La main n'était pas de Koscielny, mais bien d'Eder, et si l'arbitrage avait été fait correctement, le but d'Eder n'aurait pas eu lieu."
My problem with this starts when you say that the referee made a mistake. One mistake? He made several mistakes favouring France and deliberately undermined Portugal's chances scoring goals much sooner than the extra time. Many times your players hit ours, blocking moves, without anything happening to them. The most obvious ones were those inflicted on Cristiano Ronaldo...not once, but twice. So much so that it caused such a pain which disabled him from playing. And that, of course, was your goal, before hitting the beacon: by preventing Ronaldo from playing, the French team believed they would have no problems winning Portugal. But, you know, our team is made of 11 bloody great players and we showed you that.
The main reason why I'm writing this petition, basically against yours, is that Portugal won fair and square when everything was agains us (yes, I'm Portuguese - what a shock!). We were playing in French territory, had never won against France in an official match (which is a big psychological barrier) and, last but certainly not least, the referee was everything but impartial. Yes, everyone saw that the hand touching the ball was Éder's but let's not get into the domain of the "what ifs".
I mean, following that logic, if the French hadn't assaulted Ronaldo, he would have scored and helped Portugal win the cup. As a result of one of Griezman's kicks the ball really passed by inches from the beacon line. If it had entered, we would have had a tie. Get the picture?
Besides, throughout the whole Euro 2016, the Portuguese team were always unreasonably attacked by the French press, trying to intimidate us. They also made up that Renato Sanches was older than 18. And so I ask you, why on earth would we ever lie about that? Ronaldo was as good or even better than he was at that age.
Now, after explaining my point of view on why I do not agree with that petition, I would like to Thank you infinitely. Thanks to you, we learned the power of believing. We learned that, however good CR7 may be, we can perfectly get by as team without necessarily having his presence in the field. Thanks to you, we showed the world (or at least Europe) what it means to be Portuguese: the values of bravery, determination, nobility of character, unity. More than that, we reminded ourselves of that.
This was the (kind of) victory we needed. And you, by making it extra hard, sky-rocketed our delight in obtaining it.
Cheering championly,

The french can repeat the final how many times they want. All they have to do is to buy a playstationxbox, buy Fifa or PES, put the difficulty settings on extra easy, and maybe then they can win. Maybe. But I have to thank their petition. I was wondering on how many butt hurt french people there were, now I know the exact number.
Now that we are in the subject of repeating games, why not repeat the game that Thierry Henry passed the ball using his hand, enabling France to enter the South African World Cup? Remember him saying "I Am Not the Referee"? Because I surely do.
French newspapers were arrogant towards portugal, the team itself made very shady remarks, and to top it off, lighting the Eiffel Tower after Portugal final win with only French colors were just a show of poor sportsmanship.
For all the french people (and I've seen a few) that congratulated Portugal and the Portuguese with their win, a big hug. You are truly amazing human beings. For the ones that act like you were owed the cup... shame on you. Your parents surely taught you better. I'd be disgusted at my behavior if I did just a small percentage of that.
In the end of the Euro final that Portugal lost to Greece, we showed them respect.
When you were victims of terrorist attacks, we rallied for you, showed you support, empathy, love and true sadness for your losses.
Knowing that FIFAUEFA will never take your petition seriously, and nothing more like a joke, as it is, it even makes me think what's the purpose of it. A show of hate? This is low, uncalled for and ultimately, more humiliating for your country than you will ever realize. At this stage, an apology is the least that you can start with.
