Depuis plus d’un an, le projet de « parc mémoriel » D day land, lancé par Hervé Morin, le président de la Région Normandie, suscite une forte contestation.
Nous condamnons le principe même d’un spectacle, quel que soit son nom, qui, sous prétexte de transmission de la mémoire, sera avant tout une machine à cash conçue pour attirer 600 000 touristes par an. Nous contestons son intérêt éducatif. Nous refusons le saccage de 35 hectares de terres agricoles pour ce projet. Nous dénonçons l’opacité du financement.
Le maire de Carentan-les-Marais veut accueillir ce projet près d’un « musée » qui propose un circuit en engin blindé « pour que les gens se sentent comme en 1944 ». En fait de parc mémoriel, c’est un complexe de loisirs qui se prépare, sous prétexte de rendre «Hommage aux héros».
De France et de nombreux pays s'exprime le sentiment de honte et de colère que suscite ce projet. Vétérans, familles de victimes, historiens, des associations mémorielles et de nombreux habitants de Normandie … exigent que l'histoire du Débarquement et de la bataille de Normandie ne serve pas de base à une odieuse exploitation commerciale.
Abandonnez le D day land.

For more than a year, the D day land "memorial park" project, launched by Hervé Morin, President of the Normandy Region, has aroused strong contestation.
We condemn the very principle of a spectacle, whatever its name, which, under the pretext of transmitting memory, will above all be a cash machine designed to attract 600,000 tourists a year. We dispute its educational interest. We refuse the sacking of 35 hectares of agricultural land for this project. We denounce the opacity of the funding.
The mayor of Carentan-les-Marais wants to host this project near a "museum" which offers an armored vehicle circuit "to make people feel like they were in 1944". Rather than a memorial park, it is a leisure complex that is being prepared, under the pretext of paying "Homage to the heroes".
From France and many countries, the feeling of shame and anger aroused by this project is expressed. Veterans, families of victims, historians, memorial associations and many inhabitants of Normandy ... demand that the history of the D-Day and the battle of Normandy not serve as a basis for odious commercial exploitation.
