Sir Prefect,
In writing this petition, we are asking you to carefully examine the file of Rie and Hirofumi Shoji, Japanese citizens who are legally living at Banyuls sur Mer (66), France.
After 5 years of studying, working and training, they got diplomas to invest and stay in France as winemakers in Catalonia.
They are accused of not winning enough money to stay in France whereas their first vintage was successful, that it was served on reputed tables around the world, and that their second vintage of this year reached a 75% booking rate.
Why such a decision? That does not make sense!
After 150 000€ of investments on the Côte Vermeille, how can we hope for an immediate return and an appropriate salary?
Are we requiring the same to people who are brave enough to take over or create an exploitation today?
How such references and how so many clients are not taken in account into the equation?
While June 2018 marks the beginning of the official events “Japanisme 2018” for the 160th anniversary of Franco-Japanese relationships, this almost trivial administrative incident affects people.
How can a situation be so grotesque? This could be laughable if it did not harm this beautiful French department and bilateral relations’ image. Also, more broadly, the reputation of the hospitality and the will of the economic development in France.
We would be grateful for doing your best to examine once again the file which exceeds the framework of the foreigners law.
