For years, the Peruvian government has focused on the intensive exploitation of natural resources. In the Peruvian Amazon, everything goes: 70% of the basements go to the extractive industry, the rivers are barred by huge hydroelectric dams, the forest is uprooted, the rivers polluted.
Industrialists seize land, violate human rights, and plunder the natural resources of indigenous communities like the Wampis. They make them hungry.
But the Wampis still refuse to see their forest razed and plundered. They are organizing to fight against the causes of hunger and are calling for our solidarity.
The law is on their side. Our local partners provide them with legal assistance. Thus, half a dozen other initiatives of this type are being prepared by other indigenous peoples who are fighting to preserve their way of life and their environment.
By signing our appeal, you are mobilizing with the Wampis to defend their community and their land rights.
