The clock is ticking for TUI to do the right thing. On February 10, 2026, the travel giant TUI Group will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM). While the company boasts about its "sustainability" credentials, a coalition of marine scientists has just exposed a dark truth: TUI is still selling tickets to cruel marine parks where dolphins are confined in small concrete tanks.
Science is clear: captivity is torture for these intelligent animals. Just this week, experts sent an urgent open letter to TUI’s leadership, warning that the welfare needs of dolphins—complex social bonds, vast swimming distances, and deep diving—can never be met in a swimming pool. By continuing to promote these venues, TUI is actively profiting from animal suffering. Other major travel companies have already stopped selling tickets to captive cetacean shows. Why is TUI lagging behind?
We need to send a message before the shareholders vote. We cannot let them discuss profits while ignoring the misery they fund. We urge TUI’s CEO and the Board of Directors to immediately commit to phasing out all ticket sales to venues that hold whales and dolphins captive. The time for excuses is over. Real sustainability means protecting wildlife, not exploiting it for entertainment.
