A dark secret is being kept by the global agribusiness: the systematic torture of pregnant mares in "blood farms." In these facilities, thousands of horses are kept in a state of chronic weakness and suffering for one reason only: to extract a hormone called eCG (or PMSG) from their blood.
The reality of these farms is a scandal of absolute cruelty. These mares have their blood drained up to 10 litres every single week leaving them anemic and exhausted. But the horror doesn't stop there. Since the hormone is only present during pregnancy, these mares are repeatedly inseminated. To maximize profits, their foals are often violently abortedwithout anaesthesia so the cycle can start all over again. When the mares are too broken to produce, they are sent to the slaughterhouse.
Why is this happening? To satisfy the greed of industrial pig farms. This hormone is used to synchronize and accelerate the birth cycles of sows to ensure a "calibrated" and faster production of pork. Horses are being tortured so that meat can be produced more profitably.
We can no longer accept that animal suffering is the hidden engine of our food system. This is a systemic failure where sentient beings are treated as nothing more than biological machines. The use of this hormone is unnecessary, unethical, and inherently cruel.
We demand an immediate ban on the production, import, and use of the eCG hormone. We must stop seeing animals as mere commodities for profit.
