The fur industry continues to hide a reality of absolute horror that no civilised society should tolerate. Every year, millions of raccoon dogs are subjected to a life of misery and a death of unspeakable cruelty. These animals are confined in tiny wire cages where the lack of space and natural environment drives them to extreme psychological distress.
The true horror occurs during the slaughter process. To avoid damaging the fur, workers frequently use methods that do not guarantee immediate death. Many animals are beaten and then skinned while still conscious. Undercover footage has captured the prolonged agony of these creatures, showing them gasping for air and moving their heads long after their skin has been completely removed.
We can no longer remain silent in the face of such barbarism. We demand an immediate and total ban on the trade of fur originating from these practices. It is time for governments to impose strict transparency and hold this industry accountable for its crimes. We must choose compassion over cruelty.
