Today, I want you to react to this cruel practice.
In China and Vietnam, collared bearsraised on unhealthy farms are still kept incaptivity all their lives in order to extract their bile, which has been used for centuries by Chinese medicine. Supposed to be a remedy in traditional Chinese medicine, bile is still, even today, taken directly from living bears, stuck in their cage, using a catheter inserted into the gallbladder after an incision.
Bile that would have the ability to dissolve gallstones and kidney stones, to calm inflammations as well as aphrodisiac properties. The classical method involves putting a metal corset on the bear that holds a catheter, stuck alive in the gallbladder. The animal is then pumped twice a day into a cage, where the grate squeezes its head like squeezing a lemon. The corset holds him up until his death follows.
In Thailand, there are even bear bars open to Asian tourists where the customer is forced to choose the bear that will be pumped in front of him.
