For McDonald’s to commit to the Better Chicken Commitment
Exclusive footage filmed undercover by the GAIA association reveals the horrific conditions in which chickens are raised in the farms that supply McDonald’s.
In several farms located in northern France, tens of thousands of chickens are crammed into sheds.
In just 42 days, genetically modified, their weight increases by 60 times, at the cost of tumours, lameness, burns, and extreme suffering.
Some can no longer even stand up, others die on the ground.
“What our cameras captured is pure horror. The animals live in a true hell,” says Sébastien de Jonge, operations director at GAIA.
❌ McDonald’s still refuses to improve the living conditions of its chickens
While KFC, Burger King, Subway, and Domino’s have already signed the Better Chicken Commitment (BCC) — an international charter that sets minimum animal welfare standards — McDonald’s has opposed it for years.
The company cites fallacious ecological arguments, and these excuses do not hold up. The BCC notably reduces mortality, antibiotic use, and overall environmental impact.

STOP the cruelty in McDonald’s chicken farms ⚠️
So that McDonald’s commits to the Better Chicken Commitment
Exclusive footage filmed with a hidden camera by GAIA reveals the appalling conditions in which chickens are kept in the farms that supply McDonald’s.
In several farms in northern France, tens of thousands of chickens are packed into large sheds.
In just 42 days, their weight (through genetic manipulation) becomes 60 times heavier – with tumours, lameness, burns, and extreme pain as a result.
Some can no longer stand upright, others die on the ground.
“What our cameras captured is pure horror. The animals live in a real hell,” says Sébastien de Jonge, operations director at GAIA.
