Dog fighting is one of the most sadistic forms of animal abuse, hidden in the shadows of our communities. This is not a sport; it is a premeditated massacre where dogs are forced to tear each other apart for gambling and entertainment. These animals, primarily Pit Bull-type breeds, are conditioned from birth through a life of extreme violence and isolation.
"Bait dogs"—often stolen pets or smaller, defenseless animals—are used to train fighters, suffering horrific injuries or death in the process. The fighting dogs themselves are kept on heavy chains, injected with steroids, and denied any form of affection. When a dog loses a fight or refuses to kill, they are often "disposed of" through brutal methods such as hanging, electrocution, or drowning. This cycle of blood and fear must end.
We demand that law enforcement agencies prioritise the dismantling of these criminal rings and that the judicial system imposes the maximum possible sentences for those involved in organising, gambling, or attending these events. We also call for increased funding for the rehabilitation of rescued dogs, giving them a chance to live a life free from violence.
