The circulating images are disturbing and remind us of a truth that some zoos or circuses prefer to ignore: a wild bear is not a toy.
In China, an Asian black bear attacked its trainer during a live performance in front of the public. The video clearly shows two bears and their handlers on stage. Suddenly, one of the bears turns on the man, grabs him by the waist, and throws him to the ground. It was total panic.
The trainer's colleagues rushed in, using anything they could find (a stool, a piece of wood) to separate the animal from the man. The scene was incredibly violent. And the worst part is what happened next: once free, the man, instead of getting to safety, went back to confront the bear, grabbing it by the neck. This is an act of total recklessness that demonstrates how dangerous these practices are.
This incident is not about an isolated accident; it is about a system. It re-opens, once again, the vital debate on the banning of wild animal performances. These animals are subjected to restrictive training, forced to perform for entertainment. When the animal acts according to its instinct, it is blamed. The reality is that safety is not the priority when profits are. We must no longer accept living beings being reduced to the state of docile puppets.
Stop viewing animals as objects of entertainment. A bear, even raised in captivity, remains a wild animal with powerful needs and instincts. Performances are dangerous for humans and cruel to animals. Every ticket purchased funds this exploitation.
Refuse to endorse these practices: Never go to see performances involving wild animals again. Your choice is our greatest strength.
