On January 15, 2026, in Montauroux (83440), our cat named Zéphyr, a 22-month-old Ragdoll, was the victim of extremely serious acts of cruelty. At around 7:30 PM, Zéphyr went outside, as usual, taking a little tour of his garden, visiting the neighbours, and then returning home.
By 9 PM he had not returned, and we began to search for him.
It was only the next day at 6:30 PM that we found our beloved Zéphyr, agonising for 24 hours on a neighbouring property, in excruciating pain.
Rushed to a veterinary clinic, Zéphyr died from the injuries inflicted by human hands. His little body is currently undergoing an autopsy. The initial findings revealed that he had suffered abuses characterising acts of torture as defined by Article 521-1 of the Penal Code. These acts constitute voluntary acts of cruelty that resulted in the death of a domestic animal.
We demand:
- The opening and conduct of a thorough and rigorous investigation,
- That the veterinary autopsy be supplemented with biological and DNA analyses,
- The exhaustive exploration of all leads, the effective involvement of the municipal police, the gendarmerie, the public prosecutor's office, as well as veterinary professionals,
- The civil party status of animal protection associations.
We demand that the perpetrators of these acts be identified, prosecuted, and punished in accordance with the law, and that an exemplary criminal response be provided to prevent any recurrence.

Plusieurs chats ont disparu dans ce coin-là. Seul sait s’ils n’ont pas subi le même sorte que zéphyr la personne qui a fait, cela doit être retrouvée, juger et enfermé en prison.

J’habite à Montauroux et pas très loin, j’ai des chats aussi et je ne peux imaginer que l’on puisse leur faire du mal. Je ne veux pas que le ou les coupables soient libres.
