For the animals behind the fence – it’s time to end factory-farm suffering

Sometimes, when we drive through the countryside, we see green fields, sunlight, and peaceful animals grazing. But just behind those fences, often hidden from sight, another world exists.

A world of noise, darkness, and suffering.
A world where billions of sentient beings live and die unseen.

Inside the walls of industrial farms across the UK, animals are reduced to numbers on a spreadsheet.

Pigs never see daylight.
Chickens never spread their wings.
Calves never feel grass under their feet.

They breathe, eat, and grow only to be taken away and replaced by the next batch.

This isn’t the Britain we believe in.

We call ourselves a nation of animal lovers, yet our food system tells a different story.
If we truly care, we can’t look away anymore.

We are asking our leaders to open those barns, lift the shadows, and bring compassion back into farming.

We call on the UK Government and devolved administrations to ban cages, crates and all systems that prevent animals from moving freely or living with dignity.
To phase out intensive “factory” farms and help farmers transition to more humane, sustainable systems.
To ensure real transparency through regular inspections, public welfare data, and accountability for cruelty.
And to support retailers and consumers who choose compassion over convenience.

This is not an attack on farmers. It’s a plea for a better future  for them, for the planet, and for the animals who depend on us.

Because behind every fence is a life that feels, hopes, and fears.
And if our values mean anything, those lives deserve more than a cage and a number.
